Guest Post| Little Black Book of the Beauty Queens’ Secrets by Elise Morgan

Hey there everyone. I know it’s been a little bit, but college is back in session (and it’s senior year at that). I’m going to be honest with you – blogging is a hobby. I love it, but it is something I do when I have time, and when I find inspiration. With that being said….I have not had the time to come on here and work on any of my drafts or anything. I’m hoping to get some thins up and running soon, but until then….

Anyway though, I have a wonderful read for you written by Elise Morgan, whose bio you can find at the end of the post. I hope you enjoy 🙂

Little Black Book Of The Beauty Queens’ Secrets:

Immaculate skin, gracious posture, beautiful hairstyles, and overall stunning looks – these are the things we think about when watching beauty pageants (just remember the casting for the future Miss Universe 2016 in June) or when we try to comprehend that glamorous beauty when seeing the Old Hollywood queens on screen. In addition to incredible luck when it comes to genetics, these women have another thing in common: commitment to beauty routines and a confident diva-like attitude. While we might be envious of their looks, it’s widely a matter of savvy usage of makeup, proper care and grooming. Here are the best of their beauty secrets revealed!

Pumping up the lip volume

Voluminous lips are not a new beauty trend: even Old Hollywood beauties knew how to pucker up. The timeless sex symbol, Marilyn Monroe had a praise-worthy trick for making her lips look fuller using the power of an optical illusion. She had her makeup artist use five different lipstick shades and a glossy finish to create dimension. Apply the darker shades to the corner of your lip, while the lighter shades should be brushed in the middle section. Today, we have a modern adaptation of this clever trick called the ombre lips. An additional tip from Miss Kenya, Gaylyne Ayugi: use Vaseline on your teeth – it will make them appear whiter while preventing lipstick stick to them.

Minding the seasonal changes

With the change of the seasons, your skin suffers through a lot of stress under the influence of changed weather conditions. This means you have to be aware of your skin type and the level of sensibility in order to rotate the beauty products the right way and provide it with what it needs. Kari Christensen, (Miss Oregon 2007) recommends rebooting your skin with the upcoming of a new season by getting a facial. It will ensure your skin gets optimally prepared for the new weather factors, be it the decreased air humidity during the colder months that dries out the skin, or excessive sunshine during summer.

Tiara-worthy skincare routine

Proper skin cleansing and hydration is everything! Learn a thing or two from Alejandra Argudo, Miss Ecuador. She’s really rigorous with her beauty routine: before going to bed, she likes to wash her face three times. To lock in the moist, she applies a serum, cream, or an emollient moisturizer. Try using quality products like the skinstitut moisturizers for dry skin that are enriched with natural ingredients such as the green tea extract, olive oil, and oat extract. Keep your skin hydrated from the inside, too: make sure your water intake is optimal.

The miracles of the coconut oil

Coconut oil is extremely popular these days due to its incredible properties. According to Ashley Bendiksen (Miss New Bedford 2009), it’s also a perfect makeup removal. Simply take a small amount, melt it with your fingers, close your eyes, and apply it by massaging it all over your face. No need to use water since it will dry out your skin: simply remove the remaining oil with wipes. In addition to helping you get rid of every trace of makeup and face impurities, coconut oil will leave your skin feeling incredibly soft and smooth. No wonder Mae West used it as a substitute to a moisturizer: it soothes your skin while providing it with a healthy, dewy look.

Make your eyes pop

We were all amazed with the incredible grace of Audrey Hepburn. Her style, the calmness of her character, and the gorgeous posture made her one of the biggest fashion icons in history. Besides her balanced looks and lovely face features, she managed to stand out in the crowd with her big, Bambi eyes. Curling lashes and applying a couple of coats of mascara are mandatory, but how did she achieve that seductive look? Namely, Hepburn used a pin to separate each lash, making them look a lot longer and fuller. With this trick, your eyes will seem naturally big. You can actually use different ways of applying your mascara to achieve various looks. If you want, you can draw a simple black line to the upper lid, but no additional makeup is needed.

Beauty has nothing to do with spending great amounts of money on cosmetic treatments or covering up your face with tons of makeup. The key to beauty lies in the beautifully cared skin, being disciplined and committing to a routine.
