Aside from trying to get more active, this month seemed to be filled with lots of binge watching! Life’s all about balance, right?
Since I’m home for the summer, I haven’t been as active as I would like. I don’t eat badly, but I’m sure when you’re not moving your metabolism slows down significantly. As a result, I gained some weight (this inactivity carried over from the last semester of school). So, I’ve made it a goal to walk about 4-5 miles at least 4 times a week, and so far I’ve done just that! It’s made a world of difference as far as how I am feeling, and I plan to continue this throughout the year.
One Punch Man
I haven’t picked up a new anime to watch since maybe last year, so when my friend actually had me watch the first episode of this that was it. One of my other friends recommended this to me a few months ago but I never got around to it. I don’t know what I was waiting on, but it’s hilarious. Others may find it stupid, but it’s one of those shows that’s stupid in a way that makes it hilarious. The main protagonist, Saitama, is hilarious from his animation to his attitude, and the overall story is funny. It’s pretty short so it’s easy to finish (as there is only one season available if I’m not mistaken)! I highly suggest it.
Game of Thrones
Another one of those “where have I been” moments. I’ve heard people rave about this show since I was in high school. Actually, from even before the show – the books! I think it was a case of it being so hyped I just didn’t see the purpose in watching, but I was wrong. It reminds me of a book that was recommended to me, “Pillars of the Earth.” Plenty of everything for everyone. I finished all 6 seasons in 5-6 days! It’s only 10 episodes per season, so not too difficult to get through. So steal someone’s HBO Go and get on that if you’re part of the minority, that like me before this, still never watched a single episode.
Daenerys my giirrllllll thooooooooooooooo!
I have HATED coconut water for YEARS. My dad loves it, and has forever but I could never get over the taste. It was like drinking rotten water if there was such a thing. Then, one day my mom bought the Organic Coconut Water from Trader Joe’s and I was hooked. I don’t know if it’s just that I’ve been drawn into the Cult of TJ’s, or if I actually like the taste now, but there ya go.
Late Night Boomerang
So as you may or may not have noticed, I love cartoons. I admit, I’m a big ass kid and will be forever #NoShame. You don’t know how happy I was one hot, sleepless night browsing the channel guide when I came across Boomerang’s lineup. For those of you who may not know about this channel, Boomerang was originally launched about 25 years ago as a spinoff programming block for Cartoon Network. They show classic cartoons as well as some contemporary ones (now – I don’t remember it being that way). When I was a kid, it was the channel I turned to to watch shows like Quick Draw McGraw, Looney Tunes, Foghorn and Leghorn, Mike, Lu & Og, and more. As time has progressed, and these shows have phased out (sadly) for more stupid programming in my opinion, so did their programming (since of course “classic” and “contemporary” cartoons have changed with the times).
I was delighted to see that starting around 11 PM, Boomerang shows some of my favourites: Dexter’s Laboratory, Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy, Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friend’s, and Courage the Cowardly Dog. On the weekends, they even show Codename: Kids Next Door! These were some of the shows I grew up watching since I was #TeamCartoonNetwork. I would spend time watching Ed, Edd, and Eddy, Teen Titans, and more, and was so sad to see the transition to the crap shows that now frequent the TV lineup. This is a pleasant treat and yes I stay up to watch these shows. JUDGE ME!
