Not Quite Netflix & Chill| Spring/Summer 2016 Movies I’m Looking Forward To

Spring-Summer 2016 Movies

I hate film critic reviews of movies, or “what you should look out for” things because they tend to veer on the side of obnoxious. Sometimes I don’t want to sit and revel in the amazing camera work….maybe I just want to zone out for 2 hours? Here’s a collection of movies I want to see this coming Spring/Summer just because. Let me know if you see anything you like!

batman v superman dawn of justice

Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice

Fearing the actions of Superman are left unchecked, Batman takes on the man of steel, while the world wrestles with what kind of a hero it really needs. With Batman and Superman fighting each other, a new threat, Doomsday, is created by Lex Luthor. It’s up to Superman and Batman to set aside their differences along with Wonder Woman to stop Lex Luthor and Doomsday from destroying Metropolis. –

I’m not actually excited to see this movie, but I’m going to see it anyway. I love the superhero genre of film, and am eager to see how this whole Ben Affleck thing works out. I am not particularly fond of Man of Steel, as it is kind of boring to me, so…

I am excited (kind of) to see Superwoman and Aquaman make their big screen debuts. But that’s just about it. I don’t have any expectations, just kind of going in to see a good action flick. Not going to take anything to heart.

before i wake

Before I Wake (April 8)

A young couple adopt an orphaned child whose dreams – and nightmares – manifest physically as he sleeps. –

If I am not mistaken, this is one of Mike Flanagan’s films. He directed, edited, and wrote Oculus, which is one of my FAVOURITE horror movies. No joke, as far as horror movies go, Oculus is amazing (I can’t say that about many films in this genre), so I have high expectations for this one.

jungle book

Jungle Book (April 15)

An orphan boy is raised in the jungle with the help of a pack of wolves, a bear, and a black panther. –

Grew up with this one, so seeing this is a no brainer. Plus, the casting is perfect.

barbershop 2

Barbershop 2: The Next Cut (April 15)

It’s been more than 10 years since our last appointment at Calvin’s Barbershop. Calvin and his longtime crew are still there, but the shop has undergone some major changes. Most noticeably, our once male-dominated sanctuary is now co-ed. The ladies bring their own flavor, drama and gossip to the shop challenging the fellas at every turn. Despite the good times and camaraderie within the shop, the surrounding community has taken a turn for the worse, forcing Calvin and our crew to come together to not only save the shop, but their neighborhood. –

Loved Barbershop! I’m not big of comedy movies, but I love ones with my people. I enjoyed the first one when I was younger, and am excited to see the fresh faces they’ve brought into this one (Nicki Minaj).

snow white and the hunstman winters war

The Huntsman: Winters War (April 22)

As two evil sisters prepare to conquer the land; two renegades – Eric the Huntsman – who previously aided Snow White in defeating Ravenna, and his forbidden lover, Sara set out to stop them. –

I didn’t like the first one too much because of Kristen Stewart. Her accent was weird, and I don’t know…she just didn’t do it for me. I always thought, “I’d probably enjoy this movie a lot more if she wasn’t in it.” Then, low and behold, they make this! Sans Kristen Stewart! Sooo, I’m going to see it.

green room

Green Room (April 29)

After witnessing a murder, a punk rock band is forced into a vicious fight for survival against a group of maniacal skinheads.  –

Anton Yelchin (Star Trek) + Patrick Stewart. Seems like a fun watch.

captain america civl war

Captain America: Civil War (May 6)

Political interference in the Avengers’ activities causes a rift between former allies Captain America and Iron Man.

Here for Spider Man.

x men apocalypse

X-Men: Apocalypse (May 27)

With the emergence of the world’s first mutant, Apocalypse, the X-Men must unite to defeat his extinction level plan.

Huge fan of what has been done with the X-Men reboots, and I think it will be interesting to see the introduction of familiar mutants, but different faces (I’m looking at you, Storm, Cyclops, and Jean Grey!). I think it will be refreshing to have a new group of X-Men, and I am also looking forward to Evan Peters’ Quicksilver on screen again, as his quick bit in ‘Days of Future Past’ was thoroughly entertaining.

now you see me 2 (2)

Now You See Me 2 (June 10)

One year after outwitting the FBI and winning the public’s adulation with their Robin Hood-style magic spectacles, The Four Horsemen resurface for a comeback performance in hopes of exposing the unethical practices of a tech magnate. The man behind their vanishing act is none other than Walter Mabry, a tech prodigy who threatens the Horsemen into pulling off their most impossible heist yet. Their only hope is to perform one last unprecedented stunt to clear their names and reveal the mastermind behind it all.

Who doesn’t like magic tricks? And Daniel Radcliffe?

The BFG (June 10)

A girl named Sophie encounters the Big Friendly Giant who, despite his intimidating appearance, turns out to be a kindhearted soul who is considered an outcast by the other giants because unlike his peers refuses to eat boys and girls. –

Roald Dahl books were some of my favourites when I was in elementary school! Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, James and the Giant Peach, George’s Marvelous Medicine, and The Witches were among my favourites. The BFG (“Big Friendly Giant”) was another beloved book, and I’m, delighted to see that they’re adapting this into a film. I never got to see Fantastic Mr. Fox, but I’m making damn sure I see this.

The Purge Election Year

The Purge: Election Year (July 1)

Two years after choosing not to kill the man who killed his son, former police sergeant Barnes has become head of security for Senator Charlene Roan, the front runner in the next Presidential election due to her vow to eliminate the Purge. –

The first one pissed me off and the second one was annoying. The chaos that The Purge entails seems fitting with the craziness that is this election season, so why not?

Star Trek Beyond

Star Trek Beyond (July 22)

Enjoyed the first two installments of the Star Trek reboot, so it’s no surprise that I’d end up watching this one. I don’t know anything about the plot, but it it’s anything like the other two, I’ll sit through it and enjoy it.

What flicks are you all looking forward to?

Remember to keep up with me on twitter! I’m actually using it now, so hopefully you won’t be disappointed!

Why You Need to Track Your Emotions with Depression

Disclaimer: I am in no way, shape, or form a professional. I am merely a college student who is speaking from years of personal experience. Anything I post on here regarding mental health or the like is based purely off of personal experience. Nothing here is meant to substitute for treatment or anything of that sort.

It can be very difficult to, but keeping track of your emotions can be a very helpful practice when living with depression. It helps to 1) prevent you from bottling up emotions (especially when you feel like talking about what’s going on annoys everyone), 2) assists in identifying patterns over time, and 3) gives you a concrete place to begin talking if you participate in counseling and are often at a loss as to where to begin talking.

♦  Prevents you from bottling up emotions/Helps not annoy everyone ♦

Writing down how I am feeling, whether it be a bulleted list, or a short scribble at the end of the day, helps me to sort through what has gone on during the day, and record how I responded to such events. Sometimes (but not all the time), writing these things down is cathartic in a way. Having the thoughts on paper (or my phone) doesn’t necessarily guarantee that they’ll go away, or that I’ll feel better since they’re somewhere else, but at least a piece of whatever thing(s) is/are bothering me can be buried somewhere.

On another note, this may not apply to everyone, but I often feel guilty about talking about when I feel as if things are going wrong. It feels like constant complaining, or dampening down other people’s moods. So, writing things down serves the purpose of venting without you having to deal with the subsequent guilt of discussing negative things with other people frequently. That’s not to say it isn’t okay to talk to those you feel comfortable with, it’s just if you are plagued by this feeling, this can help with that a lot.

♦  Helps identify patterns overtime ♦

When you have a record of your general reactions to events, it becomes easier for you to identify triggers and see how things operate for you emotionally as time passes. Personally, recording things has helped me identify general patterns of what usually starts me down a tough path. It also helped me understand that things work in waves for me – that is, I’ll have highs (or plateaus) and lows, and ascents and descents to these points. There are things that accelerate and decelerate this, but that is the pattern.

♦  Concrete starting point ♦

Lastly, and probably the most helpful in the short term personally, has been that this gives me a solid starting point for that “what’s going on?” or “how are you feeling question?” Sometimes, when it seems like there is just too much happening, it can get hard to pinpoint exactly where to begin, and then it seems like conversations go nowhere because there was never really a solid foundation to begin with. These observations can serve as a great jump off point for future discussions, or future introspection (however you choose to address them).

There are many ways to do this, including journaling, taking notes on your phone, apps (they make apps that help with anxiety and the like), recordings, etc…For me, the most effective has been just making bulleted lists. This way, I get to the general point without allowing myself to sink back too deeply in the situation. It’s enough so that I can remember what happened/what to talk about, but not re-immerse myself in the feeling.

I hope this was interesting in some way. If anyone who reads this does not want to see any more posts of this nature, let me know. I’m trying a new thing where I don’t worry about scheduling or specific types of content…just writing what I like, when I like.

Have a great day!

What’s In My Makeup Bag: Spring Break Part II

Makeup Essentials

Just a quick disclaimer, I didn’t go anywhere special for spring break….just home lol. So, my makeup bag doesn’t have any products that are specifically geared toward a waterproof face, or sun-kissed skin, or even the “no makeup” makeup look…these are just my staple products that I would travel with, regardless of where I’m going.

I’m also not going to include brushes, since I’ll probably do a separate post about that. But, without further ado: my current makeup essentials/fake spring break makeup essentials post.

Above is the introduction to my previous post, where I discussed my makeup essentials for my face, which you can read here. So to avoid too much repetition, let me get into the items I use on my eyes.

Eye Contact

♥ Covergirl Eyeshadow Quad, Go for the Golds ♥

This is a pretty inexpensive drugstore eyeshadow palette, and since this one is neutral, it’s easy to dress up or down. The shadows are very silky and smooth, and very pigmented. I would compare the feeling of these to those of the Lorac Pro palette, which I also own. I find myself reaching for this palette more than my Lorac palette, or any of my other ones. Even though the finish of the first, second, and third shadows is very satiny, and appear to be very shiny, they are not overwhelming on the lids. So, again, they are easy to wear on a regular basis, or smoke out with the darker number four shade.

E.L.F. Liquid Eyeliner, Black ♥

I stopped wearing eyeliner every day because my eyes are small and I felt like it was closing them up. When I don’t wear eyeshadow though, I like to sport a cat eye, and this is my tool of choice. This eyeliner isn’t waterproof by any means, so I wouldn’t recommend this for beachgoers or any water activities (for that I would opt for the Benefit They’re Real Push Up Liner – I’ll probably post about this separately since I don’t have a formal impression of it). But, this is my all time favourite eyeliner, and for $1, who can complain??????????

♥ L’oreal Voluminous Miss Manga, …whatever the darkest one is  + Clinique High Impact Mascara, Black ♥

I talked about the Miss Manga in my secret to sky high lashes post, and nothing has changed. This mascara is BOMB, and I won’t be switching from it any time soon. The shape of the brush allows for all of the lashes to be reached, and it coats everything very evenly while still lengthening.

I usually use this in conjunction with some other mascara, for the time being I have been using the Clinique High Impact mascara, for lengthening. Sometimes, I use this one on its own since it does a good job with thickening. The brush is thick and fat, so it’s able to coat the lashes very well.

Well, that’s it really. I’ve been keeping my face a lot simpler than before, and I’ve been working on cutting down on the products I use.

Let me know what you think!

What’s In My Makeup Bag: Spring Break Part I

bonus collection set

Just a quick disclaimer, I didn’t go anywhere special for spring break….just home lol. So, my makeup bag doesn’t have any products that are specifically geared toward a waterproof face, or sun-kissed skin, or even the “no makeup” makeup look…these are just my staple products that I would travel with, regardless of where I’m going.

I’m also not going to include brushes, since I’ll probably do a separate post about that. But, without further ado: my current makeup essentials/fake spring break makeup essentials post.

Face Products

To begin, here are the products I use to create my base:

♦ Becca Ever-Matte Poreless Priming Perfector ♦

I’ve gotten into the habit of using this primer every day, even though I probably shouldn’t. This stuff does exactly what it promises, and it does it well…too well. This primer mattifies my face excellently, but sometimes at the expense of the rest of my makeup. What I mean is, sometimes (most of the time) it dries my face out so much that even though I am applying cream and liquid products on top, my face still feels a bit uncomfortable sometimes. I usually prevent this by making sure to only apply a pea sized amount (and no more), or making sure to really rub it into my skin (which can be hard because it dries so fast).

If I were writing this with the intent to go somewhere warm for spring break, like Cancun, I would definitely recommend this. If you put this on as your base, you will not see a drop of oil for the entire rest of the day, regardless of how hot it is.

♦ Anastasia Beverly Hills Cream Contour Kit in Medium to Tan ♦

I didn’t buy this because of hype, but because it was December 27th and my VIB status would not renew if I didn’t spend another $43 by December 31st. So yeah. It’s a cool palette, and I like that there are a good range of shades (there are 4 – fair, light to medium, medium to tan, and deep). I got this one because the store I went to didn’t have any more of the deep one, and I figured that these shades would be good for mixing (not only on my, but on others I do makeup on sometimes).

I usually use this to conceal my eyes and the area right around my nose. Mixing the first and second shade on the bottom row usually give me a good match, and if I want to highlight a bit I mix in the first shade on the top row. I’m not really into contouring and highlighting for that glam look, but regardless this is a great palette.

Being that it is a cream palette, it would also be a good choice if I were on a real spring break trip, since cream products are much more resistant to water. Plus, this is versatile since you can mix these to make a foundation, use them as concealer, or highlighter and contour.

♦ Kiss NY Aqua BB Cream in Medium ♦

I’ve written about this before, so I won’t rave about it here. Since the cream contour palette has a thicker consistency, I usually opt not to use too much of this, just enough to even everything out and blend. But this product is great since it’s very build-able, doesn’t dry too fast or slow, and has a wonderful consistency that is neither too thick nor too watery (and the coverage is great).

♦ L’oreal Paris True Match Powder (optional) ♦

I set my face with this sometimes, but lately no just because the primer sucks every drop of moisture from my face, so adding this is overkill (sometimes). It’s a great powder though, and if you forego such an intense primer, you could get away with using just this powder and some concealer to have a nice light face.

♦ Milani Baked Bronzer in Glow or Benefit Watts Up Highlighter ♦

I’ve abandoned contouring (well the baby contour I would do), and instead started focusing more on highlighting since I prefer the healthy glow look to the cheekbones carved from marble look. The Milani Baked Bronzer is a great choice because it isn’t as pricey as anything you’d get from Sephora, and it comes with a lot of product. The L’oreal Lumi liquid highlighter is also pretty nice, I just prefer powder and creams to liquids. The Benefit Watts Up is an oldie but goodie, since this little sample has lasted me for about 2 years now.

Again, if you’re looking for longevity (if you’re actually on spring break), I’d opt for the Watts Up or a liquid highlighter since those wouldn’t wash (or sweat) off as easily as a powder

Well these are the face products I’ve been rocking with for the past couple months/the staples I packed for my spring break (at home)/ what I would probably recommend for a real spring break.

Hope you enjoyed!

How to Get Motivated

Love Yourself

Ever find yourself just completely unable to start something? Have you ever found yourself sitting with an assignment or project for hours, but not making any progress? How about taking a step back and asking yourself, “what’s the point?” Well, you’re not alone! Many people arrive at this juncture at least once in their lives. What juncture is that?

Lost motivation!

Personally speaking, I struggle with this frequently, especially because my depression tends to work in a cyclical nature. There are times when I am on top of the world, and others when I feel like the world is on my shoulders and I just want to toss it off and go to sleep. Despite that feeling, life doesn’t stop, so I have to find ways to push through in spite of that. With that being said, here are some personal tips I use to re-gain motivation when I am in a slump 🙂

♥ Write down what needs to get done ♥

There are things we want to get done, and there are things that need to happen. Sometimes, things get overwhelming and the sheer thought of having to deal with everything causes me to shut down. When this happens, I find that writing down the things that absolutely have to get done (homework, appointments, other assignments, etc) and prioritizing them helps me get a clearer picture of what is important, and how much time I have to do it.

♥ Write down what you want to get done (in the next week or two) ♥

Now that you have priorities out of the way, try writing down some things you want to get done in the very short term. These can be goals, other non-important assignments, etc…

For me, this usually takes the form of extra assignments I put on myself. For example, in school, I’m working on my own independent research project. Once I have assignments for my classes out of the way, as well as other tasks related to the completion of my major, I can focus on reading literature related to that or designing a measure. Again, these are things that aren’t required of you, or are not as immediately important.

♥ Write down what you want to get done (in the next year or so) ♥

If you can, because I know it can be difficult to think an hour ahead…let alone a whole year. Think about any goals that you’d like to get done within this time frame. I know that they say that part of good goal setting requires that they are specific, but sometimes too much specificity leads to disappointment (at least for me). To avoid the disappointment, I tend to just make a note of what the goal is, and what smaller things need to happen in order for it to get done. That way, if I don’t get to the overall goal but still accomplish the little feats leading up to them, there is still some sense of accomplishment.

♥ Think of one thing that keeps you going (and think hard) ♥

Again, I know this is easier said than done, but try to think really hard! There is always one thing, no matter how small, that keeps us all going when we choose to continue to do whatever (whether it be wake up, shower, eat, or something else). Hone in on this, and don’t let it go. This is what you can turn to whenever you fall into this slump to kick start your climb back to the top.

For example, when all else is seemingly going wrong for me, something I have always grasped onto are my academics and career aspirations. Constantly building your knowledge base is never a bad thing, and always striving to improve in your career (or build yourself so that you can obtain the career you want) is never a bad thing either.

♥ Think of small things you can do for yourself that make you feel good ♥

Something I was told to do was to “think of things you can do to be self-loving.” These are small things you can do for yourself that keep you at least minimally refreshed. These things can re-energize you and make you feel good for at least a little while, which can help get you through the day (or at least through whatever you need to do).

For me, some of these things include: doing my makeup in the morning (this forces me to try to look nice instead of letting myself fall apart look like an oversized potato sack), listening to songs that make me happy (like “Animals” by Baths), and taking walks.

♥ Remind yourself it’s okay ♥

Last, but not least (and certainly not least important), allow yourself to break down sometimes. No one can operate on full 100% of the time! It’s okay to admit that you’re run down, and to let yourself just throw up your hands and say “f*ck it!” sometimes. This doesn’t mean you have to stay that way though 🙂 Allow yourself the time to be broken, then pick up the pieces and get back to it!

Hopefully these tips were of some help!

Aliexpress MOBB Hair First Thoughts

**As written on Aliexpress**

“This is only my second time ordering extensions, but I know that in the future whenever I order, I will stick to this shop! The price was amazing for 4 bundles and a closure, and the shipping was SUPER fast. I live in New York, and ordered this hair on a Saturday and received it the Friday of that week (a couple days earlier than the projected delivery date). What topped it all off was the great communication from Jason, who checked to make sure my address was correct before shipping, notified me when my product shipped, as well as wishing a fast delivery. He even included pictures of the hair before it was sent out to me. All in all, based solely off of the ordering and shipping experience, I give 5 stars. I’ll have another review once I actually install the hair 😊”

See review here:

So to summarize:

  • This hair shipped EXTRA fast. As I stated above, I placed my order on February 27th I believe, and received it that Friday, March 4th. In my opinion, that is pretty fast considering the hair is shipping from China. It actually came earlier than expected, as the expected delivery date was a couple of days earlier than expected

Customer Service/Communication

  • Customer service makes or breaks purchases for me. With Aliexpress shops sometimes scrutinized for their products, as well as service at times, I was highly impressed with this shop. The owner, Jason, communicated with me via AliExpress throughout the duration of my order to ensure that everything went well. He was extremely kind, and very prompt in his responses.
  •  First, I was messaged as notification that the order had passed AliExpress processing, and to confirm that the address I had on file was correct

  • Then, I was sent another message right before the order was set to ship out to notify me of such, and a picture of the packages hair was included (looked exactly how it was pictured when I opened the package.

  • Then, in wrapping up our correspondence, I was given some hair care tips

  • Now, for the best part. For a 14″ free part lace closure, and 4 bundles of Brazilian hair (14″, 16″, 18″, and 20″), I paid…..$124.00. YUP!!!!! I haven’t seen that anywhere, so if not for any other reason, hit this up for these prices.

All in all, as far as placing the order, I give MOBB Hair a 5/5. The shipping is fast, the prices are great, and the customer service is fantastic.

I’ll have an update once I actually get my hair done!

Hello there errbody ✌🏾️

Trying to keep things semi-consistent regarding posting, so I figured I would try out a first impressions post as I wear this LA Girl Matte Finish Pigment Gloss.

There were released a few months back (while matte lip glosses and lipsticks were shoving themselves down the makeup worlds throat). I took particular interest in these since, as I’ve established a couple of times on here, I love beauty supply store makeup.

Unfortunately, my local beauty supply stores weren’t carrying them (since they usually catch onto things pretty late). Luckily, I have my beauty supply store plug 🙄 so I was able to snag a few. The shades I picked up were: from left to right, backstage, secret, and rebel (all shades I usually gravitate toward).

For testing purposes, I decided to wear Backstage, a deep red/berry like colour. It’s usually described as being more berry like, as it appears in the swatch, but on my lips it looks closer to red. This could be because I only applied 2 layers though.

“Backstage” in natural lighting

Please ignore my face, I was in a rush doing my makeup and didn’t get to apply the proper amounts of moisture to my face following my extremely mattifying primer 😓

Anyway, I applied this at about 2:15 PM, and it lasted until I washed my face well into the early morning (1 AM or so). This lasted through drinking water, tea, eating, and having pizza. Some of it did come off a little while I ate pizza, but that’s because of the oil (the product does say itself that an oil based makeup remover is needed to take this off)

Longevity: It’s definitely long lasting! This stuff does not budge…at all. I tried to rub off some of the product from the top parts of my lip while I was out since I realized I applied it kind of weird, and nothing came off. Nothing. It was stuck. The only way you’re getting this stuff off is with oil.

Pigmentation: The pigmentation on these (well the one I wore) is pretty good. Upon applying, it is a bit thin and watery, but that is no indication of the pigmentation of the gloss itself. Once it dries, the product is pretty opaque. The colour payoff per swipe of product is pretty good as well. You won’t find yourself putting on 8 layers of this in order to have a decent application.

Application: The actual application of this is the only place where some points were lost. For starters, I’m not a big fan of the applicator

Not sure how well you can tell from the picture, but the applicator is basically a flat fuzzy piece. I prefer doe-foot applicators for lip products like these since the application tends to be more precise. For spreading the gloss across the lips, fine, but for more precision when I got to the top curved parts of my lips, this applicator gave me some problems.

The consistency of the product is also a bit annoying in my opinion. It applies very liquidy and sheer, so I was under the impression it wasn’t going to be even. However, it dries very fast as well, so trying to adjust and fix the application was annoying as well. The final look makes up for that all though.

Feel: As with many matte products, drying is often a complaint. I didn’t experience any significant drying on my lips with this on. As a matter of fact, the gloss remained sticky on my lips even hours after applying, but still never budged. I am not sure if this has to do with the fact that I applied my lip moisturizer under it, but I don’t find this gloss drying on the lips.

Overall,  I’d highly recommend these glosses! The color selection is nice considering its from the beauty supply store, and the quality is amazing for $5 or under.

Go get you some 👌🏾👌🏾

ISIS RCP 717: 18″ Afro Kinky

Hey y’all 👩🏾 Sorry for disappearing, between school & life, I haven’t had time to blog, nor have I really had any ideas 🙍🏾 Lack of motivation is a killer 😕

Anyway, just here quickly with some quick points about one of the wigs I mentioned here (the last one), the ISIS Collection 18″ Afro Kinky wig.

🔹Pretty natural looking right out the packaging, and after manipulating. I did a twist out on mine

🔹I personally am not good with hair, so the less I have to do the better: no maintenance really, especially given that it’s synthetic. Plus, there’s no part, so blending was pretty simple in that I just had to take out some of my hair in the front (BUT I still get lazy and don’t want to, hence the scarf & the hat 🙆🏾 lol)

🔹Pretty inexpensive. I think the lowest I’ve found this wig has been around $20-$25.

But, nothing’s perfect, right?

🔸 Found that it was pretty thin in the back. I would get nervous about the tracks being seen in the back of my head and such (this could be due to me twisting it out and needing to separate more – which was a bit difficult…got kind of tangled, but again that could 100% be my error)

🔸 Got some shedding at times (but I wouldn’t be too quick to chalk that up to the wig, that may be because of me cutting the lace in the front too close? Eh, maybe)

All in all, I think this might be my go to BSS wig…those other looser curl ones couldn’t cut it for me. I think I just really have a bias for kinkier looking hair when I can get it. Plus those other joints were too damn hot. I love big hair but uh uh.

Well, that’s it! I really like this one, and I think if I can get around the thin in the back thing, it’ll be perfect for me 🙂

I am THE MOST LOW MAINTENENCE HAIR PERSON EVER so if I say this is a win, it’s a win! Seriously! Try it!

I have another kinky wig on the way that I’ll talk about later, and some other hair I’ll talk about soon 💆🏾💇🏾 so stay tuned!

Until next time,

P.S. I’ve got to at least attempt to start smiling more in pictures 😅

Walking Bridge: Poughkeepsie, NY

Hey 👋🏾

Haven’t really been having the best couple of weeks (highs and lows). This past Sunday, I was prepared to stay in my bed, but the weather was very nice, so I decided not to waste it clear my mind a bit.

When my mind is in a fog, whether or not I like to admit it, going outside usually helps. The beaming sun, warm temperature, and sleepy breeze was very inviting.

I don’t have a car, so my ability to do too much exploring can be a bit limited. However, there are some very scenic spots close by that allow for an escape without really escaping ✌🏾️

An oldie but goodie is the river right by my school (below). It’s a campus favourite, and when the weather allows for it you’ll often find troves of students making their way down to take in the picturesque scenery.

My absolute favourite walk however is the Walking Bridge. It’s about a 10 minute walk from my campus, and it’s amazing. I was lucky enough to have the company of my friend Julia on this fine day to take this walk with me.

I love the walking bridge because not only is the view spectacular (once you’re over the water at least 😂), but it’s great exercise as well! I couldn’t say how long the actual distance is if you walk it all the way both ways, but time-wise it takes me (and company if I have) about two hours to cross and come back. My legs are always on fire when I get back home!

Well, that was just a quick recap! Hopefully you like the pictures (which are mine…don’t use them without permission ☺️).

What are some activities you all partake in when you’re in a funk? Do you enjoy walking?

Until next time,
