Finally Friday| I reached 100 followers! + Love/Hate Tag

no sleepin thecity

Hi everyone, and Happy Friday! I hope everyone had a good week, I know I did 🙂 This was my last week before I start my internship on Monday, so I mostly spent it chilling with my friends and whatnot. The most interesting thing I probably did this week was visit the Museum of Sex in Manhattan. I’m not going to post any pictures because….yeah. It was really cool though! I actually learned a lot, especially at this one exhibit they had with animal stuff. I highly recommend y’all visit if you’re ever in the area. Anyway, this isn’t going to be a really long post, so here we go:

100 followers!|  I reached 100 followers!!!! Ayeeeee

It may not be a lot to some of you on here with hundreds…or even thousands of followers, but this is huge to me! Especially considering that this was more of an outlet for me. I’m so happy with how far this blog has come, and I can’t wait to see where things go from here 🙂 Thanks to each and every one of you who follows!

Love/Hate Tag| I was tagged to do the Love & Hate Tag by the lovely Beauty by Elise Kate 🙂 You have to share 10 things you love, and 10 things you hate. Then you have to tag up to 10 other blogs to do the same

Untitled design (1)

1. Elephants, they’re so symbolic to me!
2. Simplicity. I like letting things happen
3. Tea! I don’t really like English Breakfast Tea or regular…nasty >.<
4. Babies. There’s something about their laughs and smiles that just gets me
5. My parents and my sisters, they’ve been so supportive of everything I’v been through and I couldn’t be more thankful for them.
6. Night time. This is when my mind is most active, which is both a good and bad thing
7. My passion. I feel things very deeply, which is both a curse and a blessing
8. Walking. I love taking walks.
9. Vanilla! It’s my favourite flavor, scent…it’s simple! I like simple 🙂
10. Silence. I believe that people can learn a lot more from what’s missing rather than what’s present. In regard to words, I mean that people talk to much lol. Sometimes, sitting back and really observing what’s going on around you can really be enlightening.

Untitled design (2)

1. The sound of chewing ice!
2. People who manipulate people’s feelings. Be straight up about your intentions or your thoughts. Don’t toy around with people.
4. Intolerance
5. Emoji pants.
6. Pomegranate Tea
7. Most medicines. I prefer natural remedies when I can
8. Corned beef
9. Excessive heat. I’d rather be cold. You can always put more clothes on but like once you’re butt naked and you’re STILL hot and sticky, there’s nothing you can do! And if you have no AC or fan….Mmmmmm
10. Loneliness. Not being alone, loneliness.

Hope you guys enjoyed! See you Monday!

BH Cosmetics Liquid Foundation Review (Brown Skin Friendly)

Hello everyone. I apologize for not posting at all these last few weeks, I was sick with a bad stomach bug and could not find the energy to write anything. I’m feeling much better now though, and have lots of ideas for the upcoming weeks 🙂

This Monday, I want to take some time out to talk about the BH Cosmetics liquid foundation. I mentioned it here in a haul I did of all BH Cosmetics products for a sale they were having. It was only $2.95, so I didn’t think I would have anything to lose since this doesn’t break the bank at all.

The foundation, along with the other products, arrived during the standard 4-6 business day window, so the timing was good.

Here are the claims for the foundation:

Our new Complexion Collection of Liquid Foundation provides medium-to-full-coverage for soft, flawless looking skin. The unique formula is light-weight, and provides a long-lasting finish for daily or professional studio wear. Our Liquid Foundation comes in 12 shades. For easy application, use with our Foundation Brush! 0.85oz/25.14ml.
  • Packaging| The foundation comes in a glass bottle with a pump. The design is very simple, and not cheap looking despite the inexpensive price. The pump works nicely, and allows for a very controlled dispersion of product. The only thing that was a bit odd to me was the fact that this foundation doesn’t come with the standard 1 fl. oz. of product that basically all liquid foundations do. It was only $3 though so I can’t complain too much.
  • Smell| If you are sensitive to scents, I would test this first before wearing it for a full day or any extended period of time. The smell of the foundation isn’t anything overbearing, but it does remind me very much of hand soap. Very much.
Now, for the actual claims made by BH Cosmetics:
  • Medium to Full Coverage| On my skin, I am able to achieve medium to full coverage without it looking cakey, though the coverage stays closer to the medium coverage end of the spectrum. For people with more hyperpigmentation, or other skin problems, you may only be able to achieve medium coverage at best.
  • Soft, Flawless looking skin| My skin does look very flawless (or near to it) when I have this on without looking too artificial. It gives the skin a nice, healthy look. I like the finish of this foundation overall.
  • Lightweight| It is very lightweight. I don’t really feel this on the skin despite layering.
  • Long-lasting finish| I have combination/oily skin, with my T zone producing most of the oil after a few hours. When I set this with powder, and top it off with a finishing spray, I get a good 6 hours or so of wear.
MY ONLY PROBLEM: The shade I got is a taaaaad too dark, or too red undertoned for me. My only issue is that I think going a shade up will be too light/yellow for me. I’ll probably try using my Cover FX Custom Cover drops (which I’ll review soon! – I love them by the way) to see if that improves the colour.
All in all, considering the price, I’d give this foundation a 4/5.

finally friday

Happy Friday everyone! This has been my first week home since finishing up my second year at school, and I must say, I’m very happy to be home. This semester has been very stressful both academically and socially, and it definitely took its toll at one point. I was able to bounce back from that, however, and the rest of the semester brought me a period of immense personal growth, plenty of happiness, and many things falling into place. I’m extremely excited to see how things work out moving forward from here, and I hope to reach a point where I’m comfortable enough sharing this journey with you all 🙂

Anyway, not much has gone on since I’ve left school, so this post is going to be relatively short and sweet. It’s just going to showcase three of my favourite things from this week.

1) Victoria’s Secret After Midnight Aphrodisiac Mood Candle| Before you say anything, I won this candle at a raffle at Victoria’s Secret last year when I was at the mall one weekend at school. I did not go out and buy an aphrodisiac candle. Even if I did, who cares? Anyway, I’ve had this candle since October 2013 or so, and literally never burned it because I always had it at school and I didn’t want to get written up. I recently rearranged my stuff and moved it to a different area of the house, and since I kind of have my own little space now I decided to burn it while I was relaxing. It smells SO good! It doesn’t have a very overpowering scent at all. It subtly diffuses through the room while it’s burning, but it doesn’t really linger after. It has a mild perfumy smell…I can’t really put my finger on the smell…..but trust me it’s good! And it’s so cute!

I’m not sure if they sell candles regularly? I haven’t really seen them anywhere else except for the mall by my school, and that was only one other time. I can’t seem to find a link online to any except on ebay. Are they a permanent thing? Please let me know I want to buy more of these >.<

2) Omelettes| I’ve been in the mood for omelettes lately when it comes to breakfast, and my go to has been a spinach and cheese one. I usually take a handful and then some of baby spinach, add a bunch of spices and such to it, then mix it in with my eggs, and start cooking. Once I get one side cooked, I flip so the other side can cook as well, then I add my cheese, and voila! I think they’re pretty good, and so does my little sister 🙂

3) Strappy Sandals| I mentioned here in this #WebWednesday that I have a thing for sandals, and strappy ones in particular. I was shopping with one of my friends and happened to be wearing a very uncomfortable pair of shoes. I decided to go to Forever 21 to find an inexpensive pair of shoes I could change into until I was able to go home. I was a bit discouraged as I looked around because it looked like everyone took all of the good shoes, and then I stumbled upon these! They were a size 8 though, so I put them back on the shelf. I was about to leave the store, but then I decided to just give it a go (I wear a size 9/9.5). It was worth it, as they fit perfectly, and were under $20! I swear I’ve worn these just about every day since I got them. They’re surprisingly sturdy, and very nice. I would recommend them. If you’d like to buy them, or get a better look, here’s the link to them on Forever 21’s website:

Well, that’s it until Monday 🙂 Have a great weekend everyone!

#WebWednesdays| Feelin My Liebster Award

#Webwednesdays (1)

Hey everyone 🙂 I’m trying to get back into the swing of blogging since I’ve been gone for so long. No long introductions, I’m just going to get straight into my two web highlights this week so far 🙂

World stop, carry on| I can’t get a good embed code for it, so you can click the link below to view the video for yourself. I was upset at first when I was told it was dropping in Tidal because I’m a student – I was not paying $20 a month for any of that. But thank gawd for the wonderful people of the Internet, because the video was able to be found elsewhere.

feelin' myself

I love Nicki, and I like Beyonce. The two of them in this video is EVERYTHING. They’re both so flawless, so carefree, and just so black and beautiful. This isn’t anything to take any messages away from, it’s two bad ass, beautiful women being fun as hell proclaiming that they’re unbothered and amazing. I like that…I’m with it…I endorse it. Carry on ladies.

get your life slayed here –>

Liebster Award| I was nominated by the lovely Blonde Waves (Lisa) a couple weeks ago, and I have to apologize to her for not completing this sooner! Sorry Lisa 🙂 She’s so sweet, and she runs a fantastic blog where you can find makeup looks, reviews, and travel tidbits. Her blog has such a chill vibe to it, and I highly recommend you all check it out ❤

The Rules:
1) Thank the person who nominated you.
2) Answer the 11 questions asked by the person that nominated you.
3) Nominate 5-10 blogs with under 200 followers and link them.
4) Create 11 new questions for the people you nominate to answer
5) Notify your nominees via social media.

1) If you had to choose one which would it be and why? Trust or Love

I don’t think you can have one without the other, but if I had to choose I’d probably say trust. I think that once trust is established, the capacity to love is intensified and is able to grow without bound.

2) Do you like spicy food?

3) What is your favourite movie genre?

4) What is your dream job?

Working with at risk youth

5) What is the top thing on your bucket list?

Makeup Monday| Was The Kylie Jenner Lip Challenge Worth It? By Christina Nika Kask

Hey everyone, it’s been a while! I got sick a couple weeks back, then I got really caught up with studying for final exams, final exams, and then packing to come home after finishing this year of college. Now I’m home, and I have lot’s of ideas, so look out for some posts in the next week 🙂 To kick things off, I have a post written by Christina Nika Kask who has guest posted here, here, and here before. Take a look and let me know what you think! And as always, check out the links at the end of the post to follow Christina on the web 🙂

Was The Kylie Jenner Lip Trend Worth It-

kylie 1

Kylie Jenner, the youngest of Kardashian/Jenner family has been voted the most stylish of Kardashians. Teenagers around the globe have watched her grow up in Keeping up With the Kardashians, the famous reality TV show that launched her big sister Kim Kardashian and sisters Khloe and Kourtney Kardashian into the world of the most famous, richest and most influential people of today. That Kylie is following in her sisters’ footsteps proves the fact she’s been one of the most talked about teenagers of today and most looked up to at that.

The recent Kylie Jenner lips challenge hit teenagers around the globe and for many with devastating results. The background of the challenge is Kylie’s amazing pout that drew attention of many for the last year. What’s wrong with having a gorgeous pout, one might wonder. Well, nothing really. What’s wrong is having one after you’ve paraded for 15 years in front of the camera with, as the public called them “snake lips she got from Bruce”.

The public was shocked to see this youngster turn from an (almost) ugly duckling to an astonishing beauty over night. Even her sister Kim Kardashian commented on the latest episode of KUWTK that “getting big lips changed her life”.

Little Kylie has recently admitted she’s had temporary fillers in her lips as thin lips “have always been an insecurity of mine”. But, before she did admit, the talks of the over-the-night-pout and speculations whether Jenner went under the knife were non-stop. Jenner had reportedly denied having had plastic surgery and insisted that all she ever did to make her lips look full was to overline them with a lip liner and fill them in with multiple colors.

So, teenagers around the world believed it and started overdrawing their lips only to look absolutely ridiculous. The next step was the infamous Kylie Jenner challenge.

The challenge meant ordering a plastic cup online and sucking onto it for a few minutes in order to get lips like Kylie’s. The lips would end up looking full but ridiculously disfigured and would often burst (this needed stitches). Visit this gallery of lip challenge fails at your own peril.

The suction onto a cup or jar increases blood flow to the lips and causes them to swell. Problematically, the results are said to last for hours, even days.

For all of you who are looking to have full lips without any fillers or challenges, you should know it’s all about good makeup. You should always resort to certified brands and I definitely go for Skin Matrix products since I have exceptionally sensitive skin.

  1. Exfoliate lips so that you remove any of the dead skin that may be in the way of your sleek pout.
  2. Use a quality lip liner. Draw your lips a tad bit over the line of your lips.
  3. Color the lips with the same liner you used to draw the lips with.
  4. Even both bottom and upper lip out by rubbing them together.
  5. For a glossy pout, add some see-through lip gloss.

Dr. Terry Dubrow from “Botched” set down with RuPaul and Sandra Vergara on “Good Work” talk show to talk beauty, plastic surgery and the lip challenge. After being asked whether the Kylie Challenge was science or madness, he said “I’d have to say both”. He then reflected on how amazingly weird is to have your lips enlarged by sucking on a piece of plastic only and joked saying “It’s one of those ‘do not try at home’ things”.

Kylie Jenner finally voiced out on her Twitter account saying: “I’m not here to try and encourage people/young girls to look like me or to think this is the way they should look. I want to encourage people/girls like me to be YOURSELF and not be afraid to experiment w your look.”

Since Kylie admitted she’s had fillers injected in her lips, the question still remains – was it all worth it?
