Found this at Kohl’s! Super late to the game, but whatevaaaaaa
I haven’t been there in the longest while, so I decided to tag along with my mom. While she browsed around, I of course made my way to the cosmetics section. I was surprised to see that they now carried brands like The Balm, Cargo, Pur Minerals, and of course…Lorac.
I looked at some of the other products, but my eyes kept darting back to the Lorac Pro (and Pro 2) palettes on display. I’ve wanted one of these for a while, but never got around to looking for/ordering it. So when I saw it sitting there ever so beautifully, I had to go look. I swatched a couple of the colours from the original pro palette and instantly decided I had to have it – they felt like b u t t e r. The feel, the pigmentation….it’s the business.
I checked out, and the lady at the register joked with me asking how i found it because the lady behind me had been looking for one. I made a face, chuckled, and said “I guess I was just lucky.” In my head, it was more like:
“Got the last one! Hahahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaa”
…but I digress. Here are some pictures:
Front with free sample sized primer + inside
Close ups of the shades in the palette (from left to right)
Mattes: left no flash/right flash
(from left to right: white, cream, taupe, lt. pink, mauve, sable, espresso, black)
Shimmers: left no flash/right flash
(from left to right: nude, champagne, gold, lt. bronze, pewter, garnet, deep purple, slate)
Packaging: I don’t really like the feel of the palette. I think it’s made of cardboard, and it feels very flimsy (the middle part that connects the two parts at least). I’m afraid that it will break or succumb to lots of wear and tear, I could be wrong though. I do like the size of the palette though, and that it’s sleek (in my opinion). It also fits in the hand very nicely, and isn’t obnoxiously sized so it can be brought places (trips, etc…)
Price: With 16 shadows in total, the price comes out to about $3 per shadow which isn’t too bad. I think that with the combination of colours, and the choice between mattes and shimmers, it is a good deal. A nice little splurge, ya know?
Quality: Again, just from swatching, the shadows all feel buttery smooth to the touch. They also blended down nicely when I rubbed them on my arm, but I have to see how they will perform on the lids, and with brushes. I like the feel of them overall though. I think in using this I’ll probably gravitate more toward the shimmery shades just because the pigmentation is slightly better in my opinion, but overall the pigmentation is great on all of the shadows. The only thing I can see being a problem potentially is fallout since the shadows are so buttery, but that’s something I’m willing to overlook if the colours actually come out nicely (take a lesson from that Sephora Into the Tropics Palette!)
So far, I think my favourite shades are: Taupe, Sable, Espresso, Gold, Garnet, and Deep Purple.
I can’t wait to use this!
Do any of you have this palette? If so, what do you think of it?
