Hey there everyone! So before I get into the September Blog Blast, check out some of my “blasts” from previous months:

Also, October Blog Bast is cancelled haha. I took a break from blogging and everything it encompasses last month, which means I wasn’t keeping up with posts from anywhere. Therefore, I have no posts to share. BUT, I am feeling a bit more inspired and motivated (I’m probably drawing energy since this is my birthday month lol), so keep your eyes peeled at the end of the month for a November post round up.

Without further ado though, here were some of my favorite posts from September 2017! Do check them out, and let me know your thoughts.

Interestingly, these two I saw one right after another:

http://www.behindtheschmile.com/we-can-all-win/ – “We Can All Win” from Behind the Schmile

https://funfashionfreedomsite.wordpress.com/2017/09/02/happiness-at-someone-elses-agony/ – “Happiness at Someone Else’s Agony” from Fun Fashion Freedom

The former post talks about how it is possible for us all to “win.” You don’t have to be in unhealthy competition with others constantly, and feel the need to be secretive and shady about sharing opportunities because you feel that doing so messes up your “leg up” in success. What is coming for you, will come. You carve out your success, and again, your path is YOUR path. Why not help others along the way? A suggestion or a push in a certain direction can be the one thing that helps a friend or colleague set straight on their path.  Continue reading

nOCD: Self Treatment for Those with OCD

Hi again everyone, I want to talk to you all about an app, nOCD. A couple months ago, the folks at nOCD reached out to me and asked if I would be interested in spreading awareness for their self-therapy app. While I myself do not have OCD, I am always here to support those spreading mental health awareness and accessibility to treatment. So, what is nOCD?

Self-Care Tips – Steps for Youthful and Glowing Skin by Cristina Nika Kask

Hi there everyone. Long time no speak! I won’t excuse my absence, I genuinely just didn’t want to/couldn’t find the energy or motivation to write and/or publish content. I had a streak, but then it became exhausting. I never want blogging to enter a sphere where it feels like a chore, so I had to put it on the back-burner for a bit. I won’t promise that this means this blog will be bursting with new content, but it’s going to be a lot more lax for sure.

With that in mind, I think it is fitting to have a post detailing some self-care tips to get things running over here again. Below we have “Self-Care Tips – Steps for youthful and glowing skin” by Cristina Nika Kask, who has guest posted here on a few occasions!

Self-Care Tips – Steps for youthful and glowing skin

No matter what kind of makeup or brow shape is trendy now, one thing will always be popular: a healthy and glowing skin. Why? Besides the fact that unhealthy skin can negatively affect our overall appearance, it’s also a result of unhealthy habits, body and mind. Women often turn to ‘magical products’ that allegedly give instant results, instead of changing their habits and ensuring healthy skin that stays that way. Here are some easy tips that can help you have that beautiful looking skin.

Stay hydrated

It’s simple – if you feel thirsty, your skin is even thirstier. Being hydrated is one of the most important factors for healthy skin, heart and overall life. After all, water makes up around 65 percent of our body (so we are basically just cucumbers with anxiety – I’m kidding). In other words, make sure you drink at least eight glasses of water each day, as well as to carry a bottle with you wherever you go. Finally, ditch the artificial and unhealthy sodas and juices and switch to tender coconut water for even better results.

Moisturize

Moisturizers with serums that are enriched with various hyaluronic acids are protecting our skin from every rough microscopic element in our surrounding. It’s recommended to use lighter ones during summer months and heavier ones during winter months. If your skin is extra dry, use alcohol-free toner before applying moisturizer so your skin gets the water it needs.

Exfoliate

This is an important process that removes all the dead cells on the surface of your skin. After exfoliating, you will notice that your skin is much smoother and that it absorbs skincare products a lot easier. And no, it is not some kind of a complicated must-be-done-strictly-by-a-professional routine, you can actually do it yourself by putting a terry cloth under a lukewarm water and placing it on your face for a few minutes. Next, when the water opens up your pores, squeeze some cleanser on the cloth surface and rub it on your face in circular motions starting off from the top of your nose and proceeding all the way till your forehead. Rinse your face, pat it dry and calm your skin with a moisturizing cream afterwards.

SPF

If you want to give yourself a one-way ticket to Wrinkletown, make sure you ditch the sunscreen. Jokes aside, over the last few years, UV rays have become so dangerous, that even a quick walk to take your dog out can lead to long-term damage. This is why you have to make sure you use skincare products with at least 30 SPF every day.

Non-invasive surgery

Sometimes, not even the heaviest and the most expensive creams can’t fight with the gravity, sun exposure and facial volume loss. Luckily, modern procedures such as non-surgical facial enhancements can correct these issues. If you are an Aussie, you can find clinics that offer dermal fillers in Perth and book your treatment.

Quit smoking

Smoking cigarettes leads to wrinkles, greyness and overall bad skin condition. And that’s just the one percent of all the harm cigarettes can do to your body. It is time to ditch that bad habit and start feeling, smelling and looking much better.

Keep your makeup brushes clean

Women tend to neglect the importance of keeping our makeup products and especially our makeup brushes and sponges. They are often filled with old makeup that contains bacteria and causes various breakouts. At least once a week, take a baby shampoo and conditioner with a drop of antiseptic and clean your brushes thoroughly. Also, replace your sponges at least once in two months.

Go to bed early

When you don’t get enough rest, it definitely shows on your skin. I’m talking about dark circles, dryness and dullness. Make sure you get at least seven hours of your beauty sleep every night. Don’t stay up after 11pm, and try sleeping on your back.

As you can see, keeping your skin youthful, glowing and beautiful is not hard at all. You just need to implement some healthy habits in your daily life and the results will come in no time.

What I Ate This Week 1 (9/4 – 9/8)

I am going to try to keep track of what I am eating and share them in case this is helpful to anyone. Cooking is fun to me, but I don’t like to do it (if that makes any sense). I also don’t have a super super abundance of time, so I like things that are quick and nutritious. If that is something you’re looking for as far as making food for the work week, this might be for you!

Yes, this is only 4 days. It’s easiest for me to try food related changes during my work week since that’s when I have the most structure. The weekend is kind of up for grabs. Since starting work, I have tried to bring my own lunch. There have been a few instances where I’ve had to purchase lunch in the cafeteria, but like I said, I mostly bring my own food. When I bring my lunch, it’s usually some combination of chicken and vegetables, so I’m usually just trying to find different ways to conjure that up. My personal struggle has been breakfast. I wake up at 4:30 AM, and arrive at work around 6:45 AM. I am usually sitting at my desk by 7:00 AM, and start my tasks for the day at. 7:30 AM. As per my job duties, I am usually on my feet from 7:30 AM until about 11:00 AM, and in between then I am not allowed to have food in the premises. Thus, it is very important that my breakfast is both nutritious and filling. I have been making sure to have filling breakfasts, but nutritious? Not so much. At least not to my standards.

Generally, I’ve fallen off of my no dairy train, and I haven’t been watching my bread/rice/cereal/etc intake all that well either. I am hoping to get back into that this week, and consume better breakfast options. With that in mind, here’s what I am eating this week for breakfast and lunch.

Disclaimer: I don’t really do cooking formally, so when I share things here they probably won’t have measurements or times. I just kind of whip things together and watch them cook until they’re done tbh.

Blog Blast August 2017 Part II

IMG_3584

I am really enjoying writing these 🙂 As I wrote in part 1 (link), this helps me revisit content that was very salient for me, especially if it resonated with me during a rough time. This also helps me to remember bloggers I really enjoy! I get inspired reading so many different views and genres of posts, and this has been helping to keep the ideas flowing. Here is the continuation of my August 2017 blog round-up!

Blog Blast August 2017 Part I

IMG_0016

I have been trying to get back into engaging more with other blogs, as I became very narrow in my focus while trying to work on my own content again. Not supporting other bloggers/creators is one of the biggest mistakes you can make as a blogger….how do you expect to meet other people? Get inspired? Learn?

In an effort to keep myself in check with this, I started doing monthly blog round ups. I used to do them way back in the day when I first started my blog, but as usual, fell off.

I re-vamped the series in July, especially after engaging with blogging groups and being exposed to many more blogs. This month, I am returning with a fresh list of posts for you to check out. The posts I feature are of course going to be those that speak to things I relate to, but I do hope you enjoy them as well! There are a lot of gems here 🙂

Friday

Honestly, so weird. That mood really snapped out QUICK. I literally felt it lifted from my body. I feel focused and like I need to get back into goals. Want to get back more into blogging, organizing my things for that, marketing my posts, getting what I need to get done at work in order. So much.

It was so nice to just come home and relax. Well, relax as much as I could.
